a sunday hike... or flat day reconnaissance

I have seen the tell-tale cars parked along the side of the road and I have asked around plenty about this spot. The word around the bonfire is that this spot can get hollow on bigger days.

That being said, nothing beats good old fashioned visual confirmation to gain confidence that a break actually exists. As a weekend warrior like myself, it is not always desirable to check out different spots when there is swell in the water, the daylight is scarce, and you know old faithful will be working.

So, when faced with a dry spell we decided to take advantage of the spring weather to scout out the trail and see if we could get a glimpse of the break. Of course, Levon wanted in on the action.

Just remember, River mouth Mike says this spot takes it's name from a certain animal's excrement which litters the beach during low tide.
