Meet Agatha. Or in German, (pronounced) ah-GAH-tə. Agatha is a feminine given name derived from the Ancient Greek word ἀγαθός (agathos), meaning good. Also, a 'gatha' is a buddhist poem. But honestly, we had watched the 2014 American Comedy, The Grand Budapest Hotel, the night before we went to pick her up and it felt like a good fit.
We had our hearts set on the #vanlife and knew a VW Eurovan would be the van for us. But, even in the Pacific North West (aka. Campervanland), it took a bit longer than we thought.
For months, our dreams were crushed by automatic transmissions, suspicious paint jobs, and rusted frames. We not only started to lose hope, but were losing hours of our lives searching the online classifieds.
And, in April 2014 an ad for a "Big Red Van" appeared. We looked past no a/c and the missing table, and saw that she was the adventurewagen we were looking for.

She sleeps 4 ( ... and Levon!), keeps our beers cold and heads dry.
The auxiliary deck ensures our tunes are pumping and iPhones charged.
She can equally handle a special meal cooked for two, or feed a long weekend surf crew with ease. #chezagatha
And she has room to transports a quiver of surfboards, wetsuits, mini library and even a keg.
And so far?
We've been around Victoria, Langford, Port Renfrew, Tofino, Vancouver, Kelowna, Washington, Oregon... and a beach cruise, few sides of the road, quiet residential streets, rest stops, walmart parking lots and abandoned gas stations in between.
And she sure is a good place for a post-surf #vanbeer with pals.
